Doris Van Camp Eppehimer Recchia, age 93, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Meadville, passed away in Sebring on January 5, 2018.

She was born April 19, 1924, in Girard, to Harry and Martha (Silverthorn) Van Camp and was a 1942 graduate of Millcreek High School, Erie.

In 1943 she married Howard Eppehimer and raised two daughters and two sons in Meadville. She worked for Talon, Inc., Montgomery Ward, and the Meadville Housing Authority before retiring in 1991 when she married Henry Recchia. She was a member of the Meadville Alliance Church and the Neason Hill Women’s Club. In 2005 she moved to Sebring where she enjoyed Florida weather and Walt Disney World, volunteered at Florida Hospital, and worshipped at Sunridge Baptist Church.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Hazel Carman Van Camp, husbands, brother John Van Camp, sister Letitia Van Camp Jones (Olaf), sister Helen Van Camp Weyneth (George), stepsister Margarita Carman Keep (Carl), niece Carrol Jones Shreve, nephews Roa Jones and Michael Giewont and James Thomas, son-in-law Richard Miller, daughter-in-law Linda Feleppa Clark Eppehimer, granddaughter Juli Eppehimer Luikart, great nephews Philip Giewont and Richard and Billy Shreve, and great niece Bonnie Shreve.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Sandra Eppehimer Walls Miller of Sebring, FL; Blaine Eppehimer (Mary Lou) of Meadville; Sharyn Eppehimer Madison of Cortland, NY; and Rev. Wayne Eppehimer (Joan) of Jamestown, NY. Other survivors include three nieces and their families: Leora Jones Giewont of Union City; Janice Jones Thomas of Meadville; and Norma DeVore Jones of Erie; and three stepdaughters and their families: Carol Recchia Bender (Robert) of VA; Linda Recchia Snyder (Chris) of NC; and Leanne Recchia Longwill (Chris) of Turtle Creek. Also surviving are grandchildren and their families: Autumn (Jason) O’Hara, Jesse Eppehimer, Jason Madison, Joella Eppehimer Liddle (Eric), Julia Eppehimer, Hollie Clark DeWalt (Pat), and Shane Clark (Bobbi) as well as 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, from 12-1 on Wednesday, January 10, followed by the service at 1 PM with Pastor Jeff Conley of Meadville Alliance Church, officiating.

Doris will be laid to rest with private services in Girard Cemetery.
