Dorothy B. Telliho, 88, of 15648 Limber Road, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center, surrounded by her children.
Dorothy was born in Meadville, on April 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Kenneth G. and Althea (Emmel) Burns.
On June 27, 1949 Dorothy married John 'Johnny' G. Telliho; he preceded her in death on May 12, 1972.
She was a member of Pleasantview Alliance Church, Saegertown.
At the age of 75 Dorothy retired from the former United Methodist Home, now known as Wesbury, where she worked in the Laundry Department. In her earlier years she had been employed by the former American Viscose Corp., leaving her job to become a full-time homemaker after the birth of her first child. She worked as a census taker in 1980 and 1990. A lifelong resident of Woodcock Township, Dorothy served as a township assessor for several years. She loved her job because it gave her an opportunity to visit with everyone in the township, all of whom she loved as neighbors. Dorothy was a past member of The Woodcock Township Ladies and of the Venango Calorettes Diet Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, hunting, caring for her African violets and caring for all types of animals. Dorothy will be remembered as a most caring and loving person, not only to her own children, but to the children of so many others, earning her nickname of 'Ma Telliho'. Even when there was nothing to give, she was always resourceful in finding something to give, often something homegrown or homemade. Dorothy lived a true Christian life every day by example.
Dorothy is survived by five sons Duane 'Duke' Telliho and his companion Sharon Boughner, Robert L. Telliho and his wife Fran, James A. Telliho and his wife Naomi, Thomas R. Telliho all of Meadville, Leslie G. Telliho and his wife Kim of Cambridge Springs, a daughter Linda J. In addition to her parents and her husband Johnny, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Gerald Burns, a sister Gene Perry and a brother-in-law Joe Perry.
