Dorothy E. Welsh

Dorothy E. Welsh of Ohara Township, Pittsburgh, passed away Monday Feb. 27, 2012.
She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Richard L. Welsh; and the loving mother of Dr. Larry Welsh of Westlake, Ohio, Scott Welsh of North Olmsted, Ohio and Brett Welsh of Fallston, Maryland; and the proud grandmother of Adrienne, Alex, Dominic, Christopher, Dylan and Cory. She is survived by her younger sister Rose Mary Walker of Saegertown.
Born in Meadville, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Krauss) Walker.
She taught school in the Parma and Brecksville Ohio school systems, substituted in a number of suburban Allegheny County schools and worked for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit working with under-achieving gifted students. She worked for many years as the Volunteer Coordinator for the East End Cooperative Ministry and was the telephone contact during the early years of the Off The Floor, Pittsburgh program. She enjoyed her years working and learning with the wonderful people involved with the Contact/Stand-by Telephone Ministry, the Friday Book Group at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church and the Life Long Learning studies at Carnegie Melon University. She was a graduate of Meadville High School, Allegheny College, The University of Pittsburgh and attended Kent State University. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal church and served on its search committee.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March, 17 2012 at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton Street, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15206
A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Saegertown Cemetery.
