Dorothy E. 'Dodie' OBrien, 83, of 6716 Franklin Pike, Cochranton, passed away Wednesday, December 7th, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville.
Dodie was born in Meadville on March 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry and Viola (Gartner) Ellis.
On May 22, 1976 Dodie married Robert C. OBrien; he survives.
She attended St. Marks United Church of Christ, Cochranton.
In 1990 Dodie retired from the former Spencer Hospital, Meadville, where she had been employed in the Dietary Department for 18 years. Following her retirement she started and organized the Spencer Hospital Retirees monthly gathering. She also volunteered her time at the Crawford County Care Center for many years.
In addition to her husband Robert of 35 years, Dodie is survived by two sons Donald Reichel and his wife Nancy, Kim Reichel both of Meadville, two daughters JoAnn Reichel of Erie, Melody Ferry and her husband Floyd of Meadville, a step son Patrick OBrien of Punxsutawney, two step daughters Marianne Haight of Grand Valley, Beth Smith and her husband Joe of Williamsburg, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her beloved dog Rhylee, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dodie was preceded in death by a step son James OBrien, a granddaughter Ashley Haight, a granddaughter-in-law Beth Reichel, and an infant granddaughter.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 3-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Russell Hines, Pastor of St. Marks United Church of Christ, Cochranton, officiating.
Interment will take place in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
