Douglas E. Newell

Douglas Eric Newell, 41, of 10768 Cutter Rd., Meadville, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Doug was born in Meadville, on May 5, 1977, and is the son of Joseph and Rhona L. (Morris) Newell.

Doug had been employed in the Tool and Die industry. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping and he was a car enthusiast as well as an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. He loved spending time with family and friends. Doug had a great sense of humor and a huge heart. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his parents, Joe and Rhona Newell, Doug is survived by a sister Jennifer Newell and her boyfriend Tom Ness of Meadville, his maternal grandmother Josephine Morris, paternal grandmother Kate Newell, several aunts and uncles including Joni Tautin (Rick) of Meadville, Andy Newell (Thandie) of Cranberry, Angelo Pero, Eleonora Morris, Tiffany Morris, all of Meadville, and his cousins who were like siblings to him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather John "Roy" Morris, paternal grandfather John Newell, an aunt Brenda Pero, uncles Jim Morris and John Morris.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4-7 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 9, with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas, Pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doug's memory to the family.
