Douglas Joseph Farkus

Douglas Joseph Farkus, 61, of 3109 Denver St., San Diego, CA, formerly of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 1, 2017 at home.

Douglas was born in Meadville, on September 9, 1955, a son of the late Joseph and Rose C. (Bergamasco) Farkus.

For the past 15 years Doug was employed by telecommunications provider, ATN, San Diego, CA. Doug enjoyed his work and earned a mutual respect among co-workers as well as co-owners. A 1974 graduate of Meadville High School, Doug moved to San Diego in the late 80's and enjoyed frequent visits back to Meadville where he loved spending time with his family and life long friends, including Dave Stone, Richard Stinson and Paul Roiz. Doug appreciated the simple things in life: the outdoors, animals, camping, hiking, his favorite music, Peter Wolf and The J. Geils Band, good Italian food, particularly his sister Rose's spaghetti and meatballs, but most of all, his family and friends. Doug adored his mother and cherished time spent with her. His sense of humor made him highly entertaining as he was a true jokester and delighted in making others laugh. His frequent quotes of, "Time is money and money is time" or You come into this world alone, you leave this world alone" will not be forgotten. Doug will remain well loved and will be remembered for his beautiful soul.

Doug is survived by two sisters Marie Blanchard of New Jersey, Rose Ann Minnis and her husband Stephen of Linesville, a brother Chris Farkus of Texas, several nieces, nephews cousins and friends including his California friends Paul Brieck, Dave Jaskolski, Richard Sobilo and Marty Damico, who were all like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Meadville at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doug's memory to Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home, 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
