Dr. Thomas Ramon Hixenbaugh

Dr. Thomas Ramon Hixenbaugh, 62, of 223 North Main St., Meadville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at home.

Dr. Hixenbaugh was born in Erie, on May 9, 1954, a son of the late Thomas Ramon and Louise (Kerns) Hixenbaugh.

On February 20, 1991, he married Lisa E. Grove; she survives.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

Having earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1980, Dr. Hixenbaugh moved to Meadville and purchased the dental practice of Dr. Chet Frisk and has been practicing here ever since.  Dr. Hixenbaugh was a 1976 graduate of Mercyhurst College which he attended on a golf scholarship.  He was a graduate of McDowell High School.  A member of the Meadville Country Club, Tom enjoyed golfing.  His other hobbies included fly fishing, photography, and taking his chances at the casino with his wife. When it came to work, he sincerely enjoyed what he did. It gave him great pleasure to bring a beautiful smile to his patients’ faces. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and patients.

In addition to his wife, Lisa, of 25 years, Dr. Hixenbaugh is survived by three children Corey Hixenbaugh of Saegertown, Adelle Hixenbaugh, a junior year at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and Evan Hixenbaugh, a freshman at Penn State Behrend. He had one grandchild Christian Hixenbaugh. His surviving siblings are Linda Hayes of Florida, Jeffrey Hixenbaugh and his wife Cindy of Erie, three nephews Jeffrey Hixenbaugh, Jamison Hixenbaugh, Joshua Hayes, and a niece Amanda Hixenbaugh. He was further survived by his in-laws, Edwin and Carol Grove of Guys Mills; three sisters-in-law, Renee Jonas and her husband Steve of Saegertown, Michelle Roha and her husband Tim of Meadville, and Denise Pollard and her husband Michael, also of Meadville. In addition there are several nieces and nephews. Last but not least, he is survived by his dear friends Bill Grasinger, Dr. Paul Shok, and Dr. Peter Heinle who befriended him when he moved to Meadville. Without a doubt, he will be sorely missed by his beloved dog, “Boola”.
