Duane E. Tipton

Duane E. Tipton, 74, of Wendell, NC, formerly of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 4, 2017.

Duane was born October 9, 1942 in Meadville, to the late Raymond and Martha Tipton.

He honorably served in the Air Force four years.

He graduated from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado which lead him to become a full time Pastor for many years.

In 1963, Duane made the best decision of his life to marry his beautiful wife Katherine of 53 years. God blessed them and the world with five wonderful children: Duane Tipton, Jr., June Lorine Clouse both of Wendell, NC, Troy Tipton (Darla) of Meadville, Sophia Betts (Ken), Martha Smith (Tim) both of Wendell, NC; and 11 grandchildren: Brian, Destiny, Andrew, Joshua, Abagail, Kelly, Kevin, Joseph, Savanna, Caitlyn, and Nikki. Duane is also survived by two brothers: Myron Tipton (Diana) of Cochranton, and Dr. Raymond Tipton of Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters; Rachel Carpenter and Rebecca Tipton.

Duane followed his calling while serving in the Air Force that began as early as the age of six and culminated with his graduation. He then began his lifelong passion of preaching the gospel. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar to all his family and friends. He spent countless hours serenading his family with his musical talents. He enjoyed the following hobbies of roller skating, bowling, and golfing before he found his true passion of hunting and fishing.

Duane E. Tipton will surely be missed by his wife, family, friends, and all the people he touched over the years.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service, with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, at 2:00 PM on Friday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 17045 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, 532 Eagle Rock Road, Wendell, NC 27591.
