Duane L. Paul, 80, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Embassy of Park Ave.
Duane was born in Sewickley, on March 29, 1944, a son of the late Wilbur R. and Alice M. (May) Paul.
He was of the Protestant faith.
After a 35 year career of teaching, Duane retired from Oil City Area School District. His first two years of teaching took place at Southmoreland School District, Schottdate. Following his retirement in 2003, Duane became employed by Dad's Pet Products, now known as Ainsworth Pet Nutrition. Additionally from September, 2004 until June, 2017 he worked at Port Meadville Airport. Not one to remain idle, most recently Duane became employed by Griffin Motors.
Duane grew up in Irwin and graduated from Sewickley Area High School in Herminie. He went on to further his education by graduating in 1968 from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. He was a member of Masonic Petrolia Lodge #363, Oil City and Valley of Erie Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Oil City Pistol League, where he participated in shooting competitions at the state level as well as the national competitions at Camp Perry. An outdoors man, he especially enjoyed biking and hunting. During his retirement years he made numerous trips to Montana, New Mexico and Texas, hunting for whitetail deer, mule deer, antelope, elk, red stag, coyote and bobcats. He was a man of many interests.
Duane is survived by a sister in law Mercedes Paul, a nephew Andrew Paul, his close friends Dean and Crystal Fair, his dear neighbors Aaron and Wendy O'Hara and their son Michael.
In addition to his parents Wilbur and Alice Paul, he was preceded in death by a brother Wilbur Paul.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10-11 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Masonic Service will be held at 10:55 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 AM with Rev. Sam Marchetta officiating.
Duane will be laid to rest in Irwin Union Cemetery. N. Huntingdon Twp., West Moreland County.
