E. Irene McClay, 100, of 10201 Perry Hwy., Meadville, passed away Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at Nelsons Golden Years, DuBois.
Irene was born in New Lebanon on March 8, 1912, a daughter of the late Martin Errett and Lizzie (Bell) Chatley.
On April 5, 1932 Irene married Richard M. McClay; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1977.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer where she was both the oldest and longest living member. Over the years she helped with Bible School, sang in the church choir, and was involved with the Womans Organization.
Irene had been employed at her husbands business, the former McClay Auto Parts. She had previously been employed by the former Talon, Inc. Irene was a graduate of Sandy Lake High School. She was a member of the Hobbie Club. Irene enjoyed volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, planting and tending to her vegetable garden. At the young age of 100, Irene was the longest living member of her family, having outlived her siblings. Her greatest joys in life were being surrounded by her family and attending family functions.
Irene is survived by three children Barbara J. Reynolds and her husband Charles of DuBois, Richard D. McClay of Edinboro, Patricia I. Redden and her husband James of Springboro, seven grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Hamilton and her husband Jason, Heather Nicole Reynolds-Yutzey and her husband Randy, Jessica Renon and her husband Garett, Jared McClay, Justin McClay, Julie Nicole Redden, Timothy W. Redden, two step grandchildren Mike Redden and his wife Tammy, Michelle Redden, five great grandchildren Nathan, Maddie, Molly, Ian, Jasmyn, numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Richard, of 45 years, Irene was preceded in death by a son James Martin McClay, a sister Eunice Buchanan and a brother Wallace Chatley.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Funeral Services will be held at Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, 16864 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, at 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 14th, with Rev. Rachele Johns, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will take place in New Lebanon Cemetery, Mercer Co.
