Edna R. Parker, 101, of 6657 Perry Hwy, Meadville, passed away Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at the home of her granddaughter, Delores Guthrie of 2114 Georgetown Rd., Sandy Lake.
Edna was born in Barre, NY on September 25, 1908, a daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Quintern) Emery.
In her earlier years Edna was employed as a Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania and New York and also did home health care. She was a dedicated homemaker and dairy farmers wife. Edna enjoyed quilting, crocheting afghans and pot holders. She had a love for her cats, horses and horseback riding. For her 90th birthday she celebrated by horseback riding with her great granddaughter.
Edna is survived by a daughter Mary Smock of Meadville, a granddaughter Delores Guthrie of Sandy Lake, with whom she resided, a grandson Karl VanScoter of Meadville, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by a son-in-law Ralph A. Smock, who passed away on April 4, 2010, two brothers Glenn Emery and Alton Emery.
At the familys request, private services will be held with Pastor Marsha Mitchell, Pastor of St. Johns Community Church of God, officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery.
