Edna Ruth Hulings, age 103, of Meadville, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at Marquette Hospice House.
Edna was born in Oil City, on August 5, 1917, a daughter of the late Charles and Ora B. (Fox) Burns.
On May 30, 1937 Edna married LaDaus Hulings; he preceded her in death on June 10, 2006.
She was a long time member of Meadville Alliance Church and loved attended services.
Edna was a 1935 graduate of Oil City High School. Although she worked outside of the home a little bit, her life career was being a devoted wife, wonderful mother and grandmother. She delighted in being a homemaker and raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, then canning and freezing all of her fresh vegetables to be enjoyed by all. Nothing pleased her more than time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved them dearly. Although her eyesight began to fail after the age of 100, her mind never did. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing games, and playing cards. She was never afraid to learn a new card game and then would likely win. Her memory remained remarkably sharp as she recently mastered reciting all the books of the Bible backwards. Her blessings were many, one of them being able to enjoy living at home for 103 years. She, in turn, blessed those around her. She will be sadly missed.
Edna is survived by three daughters Beverly Brown (James) of Little Cooley, Gloria Burrows, Catherine Lowing both of Conneaut Lake; twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, LaDaus, of 69 years, Edna was preceded in death by two sons LaDaus Hulings, John Hulings; a daughter Judy Berlin; a grandson Douglas Lindsay, her siblings; two sons in law Keith Burrows and Jim Lowing.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 2-4 PM at Meadville Alliance Church, 660 N. Main Street, Meadville, with Rev. Jeffrey Conley, Pastor, officiating. CDC guidelines will be followed.
Edna will be laid to rest next to her husband in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
