SAEGERTOWN --- Eileen Owens, 82, of 310 Broad St., Saegertown went to be at home with our Lord on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 28, 1928, in Littles Corners, the daughter of the late Harold and Ellen Lenhart. On April 2, 1949 Eileen married John Harold ( Hal ) Owens, he preceded her death on January 1, 1989.
Eileen was known for her many years as a great seamstress in the Saegertown area. She spent countless hours on her sewing machine in her home making clothing for her family and mending garments for numerous area residents.
She was also known for and loved having worked at several Saegertown area restaurants as a cook and waitress and was a former proprietor of the ABEX cafeteria.
Eileen was especially admired by her family for the number of years that she took care of her beloved husband Hal when he fought his courageous battle with cancer.
Eileen was a member of the Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church and former member of the Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to bowl and play golf in her earlier years.
She is survived by her loving children, Mary Ellen ( Larry ) Rice of Candler, NC, Dale ( Janet ) Owens of Meadville, Linda ( Greg ) Kiser of Saegertown, and Stacie( Joe ) Callaway of Mechanicsburg, her grandchildren, Kevin and Tara Rice, Trisha (Owens) Maki and Wendy (Owens) Hakel, and Joshua, Christopher, and Vincent Kiser, and Kyle and Nicole Callaway. Her Great Grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Alyssa Rice, Nickolus and Justin Hakel, Madison and Ryan Maki and Gregory and Casey Kiser.
Also surviving are a brother Eugene ( Mae ) Lenhart of Saegertown, two sisters: Sally Kiser of Saegertown and Jeanette McBroom Alabama, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband and parents by her brother Richard and her sister Louise.
Calling hours are from 2 - 4 and 7 -9 Friday at Stephen P Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown where services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 with Pastor Derek Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Saegertown Cemetery.
