Ellen G. Wright

Ellen G. Wright, 85, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.
Ellen was born in Morgantown, WV on November 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Leo and Antoinette (Pawlak) Gelco.
On November 25, 1950 Ellen married Jack Thatcher Wright; he survives.
She was of the Catholic faith.
A 1945 graduate of Morgantown High School, she went on to earn a BS in 1948 from West Virginia University as well as a Bachelor of Library Science Degree in 1950 from the University of North Carolina. Ellen and Jack retired to Fearrington, NC, before returning recently to Meadville. Ellen had professional careers in Library Science as well as Real Estate. For many years, she was employed by Ashland College, Ashland, OH. She had previously been employed by Allegheny College, Meadville, from 1972 until 1977, by Lamar State College, Beaumont, TX in the mid 1960s, by New Martinsville High School in WV and Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in the 1950s. Amid her library employment she decided to pursue her Real Estate License which she attained in 1978 for the state of Ohio and in 1968 for the state of Pennsylvania. She worked for Louise Bush Realty, Inc., Mansfield, OH from 1978-1982 and for Richmond Real Estate, Meadville, from 1968-1972. In her earlier years she volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother as well as a Girl Scout Leader. Her hobbies included painting with acrylics, baking, sewing, working puzzles and she loved reading and anything pertaining to books.
In addition to her husband, Jack, of 62 years, Ellen is survived by a son Gary Wright of Palm Bay, FL, two daughters Terry Hood and her husband Jerry of Conneaut Lake, Carol Wright of Columbus, OH, five grandchildren Joshua and Eric Wright, Elyse, Lindsey and Ashley Hood, a sister Elizabeth Flegal of Doylestown, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Deonne Wright.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
