Esther Jean Smolinski, 89, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 11110 Hunters Ridge Blvd., Meadville, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 3rd, 2014.
Esther was born in Robinson, on June 3, 1924, a daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Penrose) Nelson, Jr.
On November 28, 1945 Esther married Edward John Smolinski; he preceded her in death on January 5, 2008.
She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Esther had been employed by Cargo Cleaners and by the former American Viscose Corp. Her hobbies included cooking, quilting, listening to country music, collecting records and videos. What she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her grandchildren, whether she was babysitting or attending their many activities, she was always there for them and loved watching them grow.
Esther is survived by four children Robert Edward Smolinski and his wife Angela of Meadville, Patricia Ann Kedzierski of Erie, Burnell E.'Bud' Smolinski and his wife Linda of Cambridge Springs, Betty Jean Carlson of Meadville, six grandchildren Kimberly Marsteller and her husband David, Jamie Smolinski and his wife Leanne, Kevin Carlson and his wife Rachel, Deanna Hall, Tara Hall, Ashley Hall, 13 great grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Mia, Brielle, Brendan, Matthew, Jennifer, Dustin, Katrina, Tyler, Evangeline, Raydyn, Ethan, two sisters Mildred Nelson, Shine Gamble both of Bolivar, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Edward of 62 years, Esther was preceded in death by two grandsons Chase Ryan Carlson, Chadwick Dean Hall, a brother Robert Nelson, two sisters Doris Altimus and Dorothy McConnell.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be conducted at 4:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Fr. David Poulson, officiating.
Esther will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edward, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Vernon Twp.
