Mrs. F. Maxine Shafer, 102, of 6906 Perry Hwy., Meadville, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

Maxine was born in Tionesta, on March 14, 1913, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Alma V. (Emert) McKee.

She married Stanley P. Shafer who preceded her in death on May 27, 2006. They were blessed with 69 years of marriage.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Meadville.

Maxine graduated from Tionesta High School in 1931 and the Warren, PA General Hospital School of Nursing in 1934 as a Registered Nurse. Prior to her marriage she worked in Public Health Nursing in Forest County. She spent a lifetime caring for the needs of friends and family and was always ready at a moments notice to go where she was needed. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, canning, cooking, reading, crocheting and puzzles.

She is survived by a daughter Judy A. Shafer Foulk and her husband Bruce of Wayne, MI, two grandchildren Cindy Schofield and her husband David, Jeffrey Bruce Foulk and his wife Ronna, 6 great grandchildren Joshua, Justin and Jacob Schofield, Brigitte Foulk Holland, Rebecca Foulk Johnson and Sarah Foulk, four great great grandchildren and a niece Mary McKee of Texas.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by an infant daughter Julie Shafer, her step-father Lawrence Reib, a brother Lloyd McKee, two step-sisters Florence Reib Peterson and Virginia Reib Hayes.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5-8 on Monday, June 29, 2015, at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Roger Smith, Associate Pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.

Maxine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Stanley, in St. Johns Cemetery, Union Twp.
