Fannie E. Jackson, 97, of 535 Williamson Rd., Meadville, formerly of 782 Park Ave., Meadville, passed away Monday, February 1st, 2010 at Hillside Home, Meadville.
Fannie was born in Meadville, on July 16, 1912, a daughter of the late Dr. Oliver H. and Alvira (Brown) Jackson.
Fannie had been employed as Administrator of the Lions Club Orthoptic Clinic at St. Vincents Hospital, Erie, for 20 years. She previously had been employed as a certified orthoptist and as an ophthalmic assistant for the office of Ophthalmology at University Hospital, Philadelphia for five years. A graduate of Wellesley College, she went on to earn her Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Over the years, Fannie was the author of several articles published in professional journals. She was a member of the American Orthoptic Council, serving on several instructions and examining committees. She was a board member of the Erie Branch of PA Society for the Blind and of the Erie Zonta Club. She was also a member of Meadville Womens Club, Meadville Garden Club, Philo-Mathesians and Alumnae of Alpha Chi Omega.
Fannie is survived by several cousins and friends.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
