Floyd "Doc" Ellsworth Throop, 96, of 10134 Circle West, Meadville, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Floyd was born at home in Cussewago Twp., on May 26, 1918, a son of the late Ernest and Mae (Terrill) Throop.
On July 22, 1948 Floyd married Marie "Sally" M. Abbott; she survives.
After 41 years of service Floyd retired in 1983 from the former Avtex Fibers where he worked in the Spinning Department. A veteran of World War II, Floyd entered the Army Air Force on June 13, 1945 and served his country honorably until his discharge on April 24, 1946.
In addition to his wife Marie of 66 years, Floyd is survived by two children Nancy Schultz of Saegertown, Susan Wendler and her husband Pete of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a daughter in law Deborah Throop of Abbottstown, nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by a son Eugene Throop, two brothers Edgar A. Throop, Alton W. Throop, a son-in-law Paul R. Schultz and a daughter-in-law Gloria Ogren Throop.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 1:30-3:30 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM with Scott Riggs of Jehovah's Witness Church officiating.
Interment will take place in Venango Cemetery.
