Frances "Fran" J. Moosmann

Frances "Fran" J. Moosmann, 98, formerly of 893 Martin St., Meadville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

Fran was born at home in Beaver Center, on February 15, 1918, a daughter of the late John Patrick and Julia Anne (O'Mahany) O'Donnell.

On November 10, 1945 Fran married Joseph C. Moosmann, who preceded her in death on September 28, 1994, after almost 49 years of marriage.

Fran was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and had enjoyed being a member of the 55+ Club of St. Brigid Church which she attended with her sister, Catherine.

A graduate of Conneautville High School, Fran obtained her Registered Nursing degree from the former Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in 1939.  For the next 29 years she was employed as a Registered Nurse by the former Spencer and City  Hospitals.  She went on to work another 12 years as a Registered Nurse in the infirmary of Allegheny College.  Fran’s hobbies and interests included reading, sewing, making crafts and attending horse races.  For many years, she enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with friends and family.  All of Fran's family and extended family were very important to her.  She was proud of her deep rooted Irish heritage and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Fran is survived by three (3) children Anne Carnes and her husband Gerald (Chip), Mary Ellen Pepicelli and her husband Alan, Robert Moosmann and his wife Sharon, all of Meadville, seven (7) grandchildren Andrew Carnes, Ben Carnes and his wife Sara, Jen Carnes and her companion Art Ramee, Vincent (VJ) Pepicelli, Brian Pepicelli and his fiance Anne Shekletski, Jared Moosmann, Amy Moosmann, two (2) great grandchildren, William Carnes and Arthur Ramee, who are expected to be born in the near future, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Joseph, Fran was preceded in death by two sisters Mary O'Donnell, Catherine Shumaker and a brother John O'Donnell.

Fran’s family would like to extend special thanks to Fran’s very dear friends, Jacque Wood and Deb Waid, and also to Juniper Village of Meadville, Southern Care Hospice, Lakeland Hospice, Father Dennis Chludzinski of Lakeland Hospice, Mount Hope Home Care, and Crawford County Care Center, and to all of their staff, for their kind care and devotion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to St. Agatha’s Parish, 353 Pine St., Meadville PA 16335, or to Lakeland Hospice, 2221 Peninsula Dr., Erie PA 16506.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 11:30-1:30 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 28th with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.

Fran will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph, in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
