Frank Labonowski, 78, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, December 17th, 2011, at home.
Frank was born in Cambridge Springs on October 7, 1933, a son of the late Boleslaw and Veronica (Pohl) Labonowski.
On May 4, 1953 Frank married Stella Terregino; she survives.
Frank was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, class of 1951. Serving as a wireman in the Headquarters Battery, Frank was a of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. While serving with the 955 Field Artillery Battalion in Japan, he was promoted to corporal during duty in Korea. After serving in the Army, he worked various jobs before graduating from Edinboro College in 1969 with a Masters Degree in Education. He was a sixth grade teacher at Neason Hill Elementary School for 33 years, retiring in June, 1998. An avid outdoors man, Frank loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed gardening, playing golf and traveling. He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Stella, of 58 years, Frank is survived by two daughters Mary Picerno and her husband Dominic of Freeburg, Lisa Santoro and her husband Paul of Columbia, NJ, three grandchildren Angelo Picerno of Meadville, Jennifer Picerno and Dominic Picerno both of Freeburg.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a son Frankie Labonowski, a sister Wanda, two brothers Leo Labonowski and Billy Labonowski.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Hospice of Crawford County, 46 Pine St., both of Meadville, PA 16335 or a cancer research foundation of your choice.
