Frank M. Giliberto

Frank M. Giliberto, 79, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community after a period of declining health.

He was born on November 4, 1939, in Meadville, son of the late Fedele (Fred) and Josephine Cavnola Giliberto.

He was a graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School in 1959. After high school, he served in the United States Army. After his military service, he worked at Meadville Master Antenna, as a lineman/installer, and at PennDOT in Meadville, as an equipment operator. He was also the co-owner of The Cameo Shoppe, which was located in downtown Meadville.

Frank enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family. He played in golf leagues through the years, mainly at Hailwood Golf Course. He also had great memories of the times when his brother Fred and he owned a thoroughbred race horse named Riga Gulf, which raced at both Commodore Downs and Thistledown. One of Frank’s greatest joys was getting together for family dinners and sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Frank was a man that never met a stranger. He was the type of guy that you could talk to once, and you felt like you knew him for years. He would always relate how blessed he was to have such good friends. More than anything, Frank loved his family. Even while struggling with health issues of his own, he never lost sight of his responsibilities as a father, and later as a grandfather. The values that he taught his family through the years about such things as character, integrity and perseverance are invaluable, and greatly appreciated. He was a special person who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Todd Giliberto and his wife, Christina, of Meadville; two daughters, Jodi Giliberto of Meadville, and Erin Giliberto of Meadville; five grandchildren, Hunter Giliberto, Hannah Giliberto, Matthew Gotto, Rocco Giliberto and Gino Giliberto; one sister, Mary Berry of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joseph Giliberto, James Giliberto, Frederick Giliberto and Robert Giliberto; and one sister, Louise Karpinski.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, from 3-7 PM and also on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas, officiating.

Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, Frank will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
