Frederick "Rick" Joseph Hoegerl

With heavy hearts, the family of Frederick "Rick" Joseph Hoegerl, announces his passing. Rick, 35, of Lorain, OH, formerly of Meadville, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at home.

Rick was born in Meadville, on February 27, 1988, a son of Jamie and Kathy (Worley) Hoegerl.

Following his high school graduation, Rick graduated from Culinary School. He had worked as a chef, and later, as an insurance agent. He chose the best job possible when he became a stay at home dad. In Rick's own words, "I enjoy the dad's life and never thought I would love kids that were not biologically mine as much as I do, but they are my absolute world." And indeed his world revolved around Christine and their seven children. Rick loved to make others laugh and he wore a big smile. Playing Dungeons and Dragons became a family event, as his family was very important to him.

Rest in peace Rick Hoegerl; the world will be less bright without you.

In addition to his parents Kathy and George Inserra, and Jamie Hoegerl and Trish Holcomb, Rick is survived and missed by his siblings Kasie Inserra and Jay Hoegerl, as well as the love of his life and fiance Christine Marie and their children Alex, Bella, Lexi, Layla, Rory, Logan, Liam; grandparents Harry and Evelyn Worley, Nancy Hoegerl; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by grandparents Frederick Joseph Hoegerl, Miriam Tracey, Thomas and Patricia Inserra; sister Samantha Crawford; aunt Karen Spinnato; uncle Jason Hoegerl; and his favorite cat Stormy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with Rev. Jeff Conley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home.
