Gail D. Potts, 71, of Union City, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.
Gail was born in East Brady, on August 6, 1949, a daughter of the late James and Beulah (Catchpole) Silvis I.
Gail attended schools in East Brady School District before moving to Holly Hill,FL where she completed her education at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. She had been employed by General Telephone Company in Union City and Corry, but her primary career was in floral design. She was the head floral designer for Ahl’s Greenhouse in Union City for many years and also worked for florists in Corry, Waterford and Erie. A member of the Erie Runners Club, Gail had a passion for running and participated in several 5K and 10K races. She enjoyed an active lifestyle and during her younger years she was a lifeguard in Union City and played on a women’s softball team. She loved being outdoors, especially working in her flower gardens. She also had a fondness for watching the birds and tending to her bird feeders. The time she spent by the ocean in Daytona Beach brought her much joy.
Gail is survived by two children - Israel L. Potts (Kathy) of Union City, DeLaynne M. Taylor (Dann), five grandchildren - Jerad Tarbell (Holly), Krysten Tarbell (fiancé Keitron Mitchell), Shannon Taylor (fiancé Blake Jackson), Matthew Potts (Sarah), Michael Potts; seven great grandchildren, a sister - Sandra (Sandy) Webb, and a brother Raymond (Ray) Silvis (Martha), as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by two brothers - James (Jim) Silvis II, William (Bill) Silvis and three sisters - Shirley Heckler, Delores (Doe) Robinson, and Elinor Robinson.
Visitation is Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 10-11 AM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Jeremy McClain of Harvest Baptist Church officiating. CDC guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620 or Marquette Hospice Hospice House C/O Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
