Gladys was a devoted wife and mother, and was known throughout the community for her countless hours of service. She worked for ten years as an EMT, and was an expert seamstress whose alterations and clothing designs, up to and including wedding dresses, were in great demand. She also devoted thousands of hours to support various community outreach programs including the community birthday calendar, peanut brittle making (with up to 350 pound of nuts a year), the Salvation Army, and Meals on Wheels.
