Gordon Edward (Davis) Oldfield, 37, of Saegertown, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of April 7, 2016, at UPMC Presbyterian after a short illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Gordon was born October 7, 1978, in Bar Harbor, Maine, a region that always held a sacred place in his heart and that he carried with him wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon Edward and Betty Jean (Carr) Davis of Bar Harbor, ME, and his adoptive mother, grandmother Suzanne (Begin, Davis) Oldfield of Bucksport, ME.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Marie Grayson and son Harper Davis Oldfield,5, of Saegertown, and son Brandon Lee Schroeder, 13, of Virginia, his adoptive father Fred (Jaqueline) Oldfield of Edgewater, FL, his sister Sara (Daniel) Difiore and nieces Brooke and Taylor of Deland, FL, his brother Cory (Stephanie) Begin and family of Brooksville, FL, the Graysons and Smiths of the Saegertown area, and many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the NorthEast and FL, as well as many, many friends and loved ones.
A self proclaimed “Jack of all trades, master of none”, Gordon enjoyed numerous interests. He was employed as a powder coater at Perfect Coat in Saegertown since 2007. Gordon loved projects that involved reimagining and redesigning, and was always coming up with new ways to improve existing norms.
Gordon had an amazingly dry sense of humor that often got him into trouble, and endeared him to so many. He had a passion for comic books and the reluctant hero, something he loved to share with his son, Harper. Gordon adored macabre fiction, be it books or movies, and celebrated every opportunity to sit and debate directors, writers, actors, and authors.
Gordon’s numerous friends will never hesitate to say he was the life of the party and always had a hilarious story to share, or comment to make everyone laugh. Gordon had a lust for life and knack for sharing it. With a flair for the dramatic and a heart of gold, Gordon will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Heather was honored to share in his amazing spirit for 15 years of friendship, and 13 years of love and laughter. Harper was a completion of their hearts, and Gordon and he shared an immeasurable bond.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and memoriams be made to St. James Haven, PO Box 15 or Liberty House, 1180 Liberty St., both in Meadville, PA 16335.
There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 2pm to 4pm at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad Street, Saegertown Pa, 16433.
