Guido Mario Colella

Guido Mario Colella, 89, of Meadville, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at Crawford County Care Center, with his family by his side.

Guido was born in Taurianova, RC, Italy on May 16, 1933, a son of the late Carmela (Sigilli) and Antonino V. Colella.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Church.

Guido had been a Master Tailor for over 70 years. Immigrating to Meadville in December, 1957, Guido worked as a tailor for the former Weldon's Clothing Store. In the early 60's he opened his own tailoring business. In 1970 he returned to Italy to be with his family, then moved back to Meadville in 1978 and resumed his business. Guido enjoyed teaching Italian to the students of Allegheny College as well as students of Trevecca College while living in Nashville, TN, from 2010 until 2020. A member of the Hunting and Fishing Club, he was a former member of the Italian Civic Club, Knight of Columbus, and Sertoma Club. Guido enjoyed dancing, playing the guitar and singing, having sung the Ave Maria and The Lord's Prayer for numerous weddings. He was very proud of his family, his American citizenship and his Italian heritage, visiting his family in Italy at least once a year. He will be sadly missed.

Guido is survived by a son Antonino V. Colella of Meadville; two grandchildren Francesca Colangelo (Mikeal) of Greenville, SC, Dante Colella of Washington, DC, a sister Italia Lentini-Colella of Taurianova, Italy, a brother Reginaldo "Aldo" Colella (Theresa) of Meadville, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Guido was preceded in death by two sisters Maria Colella, Fortuna Roda; two brothers Vincenzo Colella and Franco Colella.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4-7 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Joe Petrone, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Guido will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff of Crawford County Care Center, TCU of Meadville Medical Center and the Barco Oncology Institute who took such good care of Guido in his last months.
