Hans O. Torbjornsen

Hans Osvald Torbjørnsen, 87, of Cambridge Springs, PA died April 6, 2025, following a brief illness.

Born in Oslo, Norway on January 9, 1938 to Einar and Molik Torbjørnsen, Hans was raised in Norway and obtained his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in Aachen, Germany. He emigrated to New Jersey shortly thereafter for work in that field.

As a young boy compelled to flee Oslo for the countryside during Nazi occupation, however, he discovered the fields of his true passion: farming.

After meeting and marrying Barbara Alford in NJ in 1968 they moved to Ohio where Hans began farming in earnest. Hans loved nothing more than working the land speaking Norwegian to his beloved cows. He appreciated the quiet simple life; in later years spending his time relaxing at the lake in Edinboro. Hans lived his life with strength and simplicity and will be remembered for his work ethic and his kindness.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara. He is survived by his daughter, Karen of New York City, and his son, Einar of Cambridge Springs.
