Harley D. Carpenter, Jr.

Harley D. Carpenter, Jr., 91, of 20881 State Hwy. 198 Saegertown, passed away Sunday, April 4th, 2010 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Harley was born in Meadville on January 3, 1919, a son of the late Harley D. and Mabelle V. (Waibel) Carpenter, Sr.
On June 24, 1967, Harley married Rachel Tipton; she survives.
In his earlier years, Harley attended Electrical School. A veteran of the US Army during WW II, Harley served his country from October 21, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 1, 1943. An active member of the American Rescue Workers since 1982, Harley volunteered his time until he became ill in 1997.
In addition to his wife Rachel of 42 years, Harley is survived by a niece Debra Albert and her husband Thomas of Somerset, KY, a nephew Gary Carpenter and his wife Connie of Erie, two great niecs Lisa Carpenter, Sara Carpenter and a great nephew Paul Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by two brothers Paul and John Carpenter.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4:30, at McCracken Chapel of Cribbs at Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, and on Thursday from 10-11 at the Emmaline D. Barco Chapel at Wesbury United Methodist Community, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM. Officiating the Service will be Rev. Paul Houseworth, Pastor of Wesley Methodist Church, Meadville, and General Claude Astin of the American Rescue Workers, Williamsport.
Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
