Harold A. Haney

Emblem
Harold A. Haney, 97, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Wesbury, with his family present physically and virtually.

Harold was born in Meadville, on November 10, 1926, a son of the late Stanley and Gladys (Woodcock) Haney.

On June 14, 1947 Harold married Sarah "Sally" B. Grazier; she preceded him in death in 2009.

After 30 years of service, Harold retired from the Meadville Post Office as a mailman for the RD 5 route.  He was loved by those he delivered to, especially the children to whom he also delivered gum and candy.  In his younger days, he also drove bus for Calvary Baptist Church.  A WW II veteran, Harold enlisted in the Navy on August 25, 1944 and served his country honorably until his discharge on June 13, 1946.  He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.  He attended Meadville schools.  Anyone who knew Mr. Haney knew he was a jack of all trades and master of them all. He could plumb your sink, fix your car, paint your house or wire your lights, sometimes all in the same day! He often helped his neighbors with repairs, even the neighborhood children, who visited him regularly with a toy in need of repair.  He was a fan of country and Gospel music and loved to pick up one of his harmonicas to carve out a tune.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Harold is survived by four children Stanley F. Haney (Sukey) of Wiscasset, ME, Tania L. Bowman (John) of OH, Susan Hanes (late Huber) of Glendale Springs, NC; Ralph T. Haney (Luba) of Petaluma, CA; seven grandchildren Kevin Belknap, Jeff Bowman, Stephen Haney, Kim Corsi, Allison Haney, Hannah Koyfman, Benjamin Franklin Cohen; eight great grandchildren Ethan Corsi, Evan Bowman, Ember Corsi, William, Victoria, Anna and Zoe Koyfman, Olivia Cohen; a special family friend Claudia Bowser who was his loyal and long term caregiver; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Scott Graham who visited him weekly.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Sally, Harold was preceded in death by his siblings William, Shirley, Richard and Donna.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
