Hedwig "Hedy" Eaton

Hedwig "Hedy" Eaton, 91, of Meadville, formerly of Syracuse and Henderson, NY, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born on November 18, 1927 in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late John and Emma (Eitzenberger) Stummer.

She married Jacob Eaton on May 15, 1948; he preceded her in death on December 24, 2000.

Hedy was a devoted and loving mother. She was a very proud “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She had a genuine smile for everyone she met, especially the wonderful and caring staff at Wesbury. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday and remained her sweet and sassy self until the end. She will be truly missed and never forgotten.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Eaton Passilla (Tony) of Meadville; three grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Passilla of Venice, FL; Jeffrey (Keriann) Passilla of Meadville; Lauren Passilla of Philadelphia; three step-grandchildren: Steven (Dawn) Passilla of Meadville; Karen (Alex) Green of Keswick, VA; Tony Passilla Jr. of Saegertown; four great-grandchildren: Lillyana Passilla, Anniston Passilla, Emma Passilla and Mia Passilla, five step great grandchildren: Jackie Nickelson, John Macken, Hannah Green, Abigail Passilla and David Green.

In addition to her husband, Jacob, Hedy was preceded in death by a son Alan Eaton and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Benevolent Fund c/o Wesbury, 31 N. Park Ave. or the Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, both in Meadville, PA 16335.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
