Helen (Jantosik) Morrone

Helen (Jantosik) Morrone, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side in Pittsburgh.

She was a long time resident of Meadville, born in Bentleyville, on September 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Walko) Jantosik.

She was married in 1943 to John A. Morrone, who preceded her in death in 1982.

In October, 2013 Helen moved to Concordia of the South Hills Independent Community, Mt. Lebanon, to be closer to her family.

She graduated from the former Cussewago High School. Helen worked at the former Islay's in the 1940's where she met her husband. Later in the 60's she worked as a cook at the Meadville Senior High School cafeteria. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling, golfing and bird watching. She was a life long supporter of helping the St. Joseph's Indian School.

She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church for over 60 years and a member of the Meadville Women's Club for 34 years.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her long-time friend Phil Anselmo, her sister in law Christine Jantosik and her nephew Larry Jantosik.

She is survived by a daughter Sharon Morrone Snee; granddaughters Michele Beier (Max), Kelly McDonald (Andrew); great grandchildren Finn and Braxton Beier, Morgan and Drew McDonald; her loving brother Anthony Jantosik and his daughter Kathy Winans (Craig Winans-deceased), and her children Brad Winans, Melissa Herrmann (Eric), Sarah Burroughs (Josh); and many nieces and nephews in Michigan, Florida, Arizona as well as Pennsylvania.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 13th at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Daniel Prez officiating.

Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband, John, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
