Mrs. Helga I. Pontillo, 87, of 10874 Williamson Road, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center.

Helga was born in Breslau, Germany on May 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Schultz) Landmann.

On August 2, 1946 Helga married Paul R. Pontillo; he survives.

She was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society.

After 23 years of service Helga retired in 1987 from the former Talon, Inc., Meadville, where she had been employed in the Pilot Production Dept. Following her retirement, she went on to work for Crawford Central School District for seven years as a school cafeteria monitor. For several years Helga bowled in the Mid-Week Bowling League on Tuesday evenings. A member of VFW Post #2006, she was also a life member of the Venango Valley Golf Club where she participated in its Tuesday night golf league.

In addition to her husband Paul of 68 years, Helga is survived by three daughters Angela Fraser of Meadville, Helen M. Beier and her husband Bob of Meadville and NC, Diane Mattlin and her husband Joe of Hampstead, NC, a son Samuel A. Pontillo and his wife Linda of Longwood, FL, 8 grandchildren Eric Fraser and his wife Rachel of Carmichael, Kathleen Carr and her husband Rob of Apex, NC, Sean Kelley of Homestead, FL, Joseph P. Mattlin of Hampstead, NC, Daniel Mattlin and his wife Amy of Hampstead, NC, Julie Lovelace and her husband David of Newton Falls, OH, Nicholas K. Pontillo and his wife Nicole of Kansas, Angela Pontillo of Orlando, FL and 8 great grandchildren. Dalton and Morgan Fraser, Kayla Kelley and Connor Carr, Austin and Ryan Pontillo and Peyton and Leila Mattlin. Helga is also survived by the following people who have enriched her life; Jane Daddio Owen and her son Jason of Erie, Anthony Daddio and his wife Marlene, David Kennedy and his wife Patricia and their three sons, Dennis and Sylvia Livi, Jim and Toni Harvey all of Meadville, Miriam Mast and her family of Ohio, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Helga was preceded in death by 3 sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 15, 2014 at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, officiating.

Helga will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
