Henry E. Bennett, 78, of 528 North St., Meadville, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Meadville Medical Center.
Henry was born in Springfield, MA on July 28, 1937, a son of the late Charles and Frances (Hall) Bennett.
On February 1, 1964 Henry married Donna K. Cribbs; she survives.
In 1977 after 22 years of service to his country, Henry retired as Sergeant from the Armed Forces. He entered the US Army on November 21, 1955 and was released with from active duty on November 30, 1977, having served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He went on to work another 20 plus years in the Heat Treat Department of Greenleaf Corporation. A fan of NASCAR, his favorite driver was Mark Martin. Henry collected various items including eagles, NASCAR memorabilia and Budweiser beer steins. He liked to stay busy and crafted a model of the Budweiser wagon, dog and Clydesdale horses. Henry enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. He loved to accompany his grandchildren to monster truck events each year just as much as he loved attending their sporting and school events. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife Donna of 52 years, Henry is survived by twin sons Bruce K. Bennett and his partner Todd Heibel of California, Brian K. Bennett of Meadville, a daughter Melissa J. Bennett of Meadville, five grandchildren Mike Haner of Cochranton, Ashley Knowles, Alexis Knowles, Samantha Bennett all of Meadville, Holly Atkinson of Cambridge Springs, two great grandchildren Lola Haner, Acari Haner known as Busy Izzy, two sisters, three brothers, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by a brother.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM with Rev. Joel DiAngi officiating.
Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, Henry will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family C/O Mizner Funeral Home, 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
