Henry C. "Hank" Wilkinson, 98, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2019, surrounded by his family, after suffering a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Henry was born in Toronto, OH on August 26, 1920, a son of the late Benjamin and Virgie (Bell) Wilkinson.
A WW II veteran, Hank joined the US Army on September 17, 1942 and served his country honorably until his discharge on September 30, 1945. Most of his service time was spent with Company B 645th Tank Destroyer 45th Division. Having served under General Patton as a tank driver/operator, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Five Bronze Stars. Hank had been employed by Prudential Insurance and as a salesman for Sears before becoming an "over the road trucker" until he retired. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2006 and Saegertown American Legion Post # 205. In his earlier years Hank really enjoyed dancing, golfing and roller skating.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Joanne, Hank is survived by a son Mark Wilkinson of Missouri, three daughters Pamela Potts of Saegertown, Phillis Miles (Lee) of Florida, Cynthia Wilkinson (Tony Lanasa) of Georgia, three grandsons Stefan Potts of Meadville, Zachary Wilkinson of Missouri, John Myers (Sara) of Philadelphia, 2 granddaughters Haley Wilkinson of Missouri, Christine Helm (Steven) of Florida, three great grandsons Ryan Helm, Nathan Helm, A'more Williams, many nieces and nephews.
Hank was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Rachael Potts, two brothers Benjamin Wilkinson and Jack Wilkinson.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Hank will be laid to rest in Blooming Valley Cemetery with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006.

The family would like to thank the Veteran's Administration in both Erie and Crawford County as well as Hospice of Crawford County and Wesbury United Methodist Community for the love and care they provided.
