Howard A. Peters, 90, of Cambridge Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Crawford County Care Center.
Howard was born in Cambridge Springs, on January 21, 1931, a son of the late Forest O. and Marion (Jewell) Peters.
On November 5, 1955, Howard married Elizabeth M. Alward; she preceded him in death on May 14, 2011.
He was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church.
In the late 1980's Howard retired from the Metal Prep Department of Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs, formerly known as White Engineering. He had previously been employed by the former Meadville Malleable, General Electric and had done masonry work with his father in his early years. A US Air Force veteran, Korean Conflict, Howard served his country from January 8, 1951 until his honorable discharge on December 9, 1954. He was a 1950 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. Howard was a life member of both Venango VFW Post #169 and of Cambridge Springs American Legion Post #381. His family was the most important thing in his life and he loved them deeply. He will be sadly missed.
Howard is survived by three children Steven Peters (Tammy) of Cambridge Springs, Eugenia Warrick (Rick) of Meadville, Gale Petty (Paul) of Cambridge Springs; six grandchildren Eric Peters, Stephanie Hummel, Howard Pulling, Elizabeth Pulling, Tonya Pulling, Jason Petty; seven great grandchildren Drake Peters, Samuel Peters, Jasimine Sample, Glenn Sample IV, Joshua Wingard, Calob Pulling, Grayson Pulling; two sisters Martha Baker of Erie, Lois Hines of Martinsville, IN; numerous several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife Elizabeth of 55 years, Howard was preceded in death by seven siblings Herbert, Lloyd, Thelma, Evelyn, Betty, Mary and Genevieve.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 PM on Friday, June 18, and also on Saturday, June 19, from 1-2 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM with Dean Sherman officiating.
Howard will be laid to rest next to his wife, Elizabeth, in Venango Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Erie Crawford Burial Detail.
