Mr. James A. Mook, 85, of 22533 Fry Road, Venango, left his home and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 15, 2010.
James was born on April 15, 1925, a son of the late William Edward and Elmo (Carroll) Mook.
On September 7, 1946 James married Gloria Brink; she went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2010.
He was a member of Saegertown Community Church.
A hard working dairy farmer for close to 60 years, James also did construction and worked for Cussewago Twp. He attended Mosiertown schools. A proud veteran of the US Army, James served his country during WW II from September 6, 1944 until his honorable discharge on July 23, 1946 and had attained the rank of Tec 4. He was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a lifelong member of V.F.W. Post #169, a member of Erie-Crawford co-op and a member of Dairy Farmers of America.
James is survived by four children Dawna L. Tracy of Saegertown, Judy J. Burchill and her husband James of Cochranton, James S. Mook and his wife Kimberly of Decherd, TN, Tom E. Mook and his wife Carole of Cambridge Springs, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two sisters Shirley Smith of Guys Mills, Charlotte Hall of Meadville, two brothers Arthur Mook and his wife Grace of Saegertown, Bernard Mook and his wife Bonnie of Tennessee, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents William and Elmo Mook and his wife Gloria of 63 years, James was preceded in death by four brothers Harold, Merle, Paul and Kenneth Mook.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 4-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
Funeral Services will be held at Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 233 Church St., Cambridge Springs, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 18, with Pastor Richard Haemer of Saegertown Community Church and Pastor Cliff Cartwright of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
Interment will take place with full Military Honors by VFW Post #169 in Venango Cemetery.
