James Earnest Osborne, 80, of 775 Gasteiger Rd,. Meadville, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
James was born at home in Jackson Center, on July 13, 1934, a son of the late Alva Jackson and Florence (Powell) Osborne.
From 1986-1996 James was employed by Janet and Jeff Peters at Spruce Row Dairy Farm; he thoroughly enjoyed working there. He had previously been employed by Automatic Vendors, the Vending Department of Coca Cola, the former Good Pie Bakery, as a civil service worker in Boyers and in his very early years, on the family dairy farm. On May 22, 1957 James entered the US Army and served his country honorably until his discharge on May 7, 1959. James was a 1951 graduate of the former Sandy Lake Joint Consolidated High School. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also enjoyed gardening and harness racing. Family was very important to James and he loved attending events with immediate family as well as extended family. He will be sadly missed.
James is survived by two daughters Carol Lilly and her husband Mark of Meadville, Cathy Pierro and her husband Tom of Reynoldsburg, four grandchildren Mackenzie Lilly, Logan Lilly, Caili Pierro, Dane Pierro, a great granddaughter Tara, a brother Donald Osborne and his wife Becky of Saegertown, a sister in law Marian Osborne of Stoneboro, numerous nieces and nephew.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers David Osborne, Richard Osborne, A.J. Osborne, two sisters Isabelle Rodgers, Rose Wilson, a niece Natalie Osborne-Burton and a nephew Lorne 'Butch' Osborne.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 3-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
