James Edward Jenkins

James Edward Jenkins, 72, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at UPMC Sugar Creek Station, Franklin.

James was born in Gary, IN, on May 21, 1946, a son of the late Robert and Clair Mae Jenkins.

He had been a member of Beacon Liberty St. Temple Church of God in Christ where he had served as a Deacon.

Over the years, James worked various jobs. A US Army veteran, he served his country honorably from November 29, 1963 until his discharge on December 19, 1965. James enjoyed reading novels as well as newspapers. He also enjoyed watching old western movies and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.

James is survived by two brothers Melvin Jenkins of Meadville, J.C. Jenkins of Marysville, IN, a sister Sherry Gorth of Indianapolis, IN, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 11-1 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Going Home Service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Harold Goodrum of Beacon Liberty Street Temple Church of God in Christ officiating.

James will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006.
