James "Fred" Arden Meacham

James "Fred" Arden Meacham, 69, of State Highway 86, Saegertown, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

James was born in Olean, NY on July 8, 1950, a son of Leslie A. and the late Phylis "Kay" (Miller) Meacham.

On August 26, 1972, James married Crystal Chapple, at Gravel Run Presbyterian Church, Woodcock; she survives.

Over the years James was employed by Atlantic Breeders, Makco Tool and Saegertown Hardware, from which he retired due to his declining health. Following his 1968 graduation from Saegertown High School, James enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam draft. He joined the Special Forces, Green Beret, and served in Germany. James had many hobbies and interests including hunting, boating, gardening, tractor pulls, following NASCAR racing, and even building computers. He had the ability to fix or repair just about anything. He will be sadly missed by his family.

In addition to his wife Crystal of 47 years, James is survived by a daughter Stephanie Swanson (Mike) of Guys Mills; a son Jeremy Meacham (Billie) of Cochranton; seven grandchildren whom he cherished Joshua, Matthew and Chloe Swanson, Trenity, Darianne, Cadence and Hailey Meacham; his father Leslie A. Meacham of Saegertown; two sisters Linda Crecraft (Gordon) of Saegertown, Cindy Brown of Meadville; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful chihuahua Elsa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandparents.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 4-6 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM with Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, officiating.

James will be laid to rest in Blooming Valley Cemetery, East Mead Township.
