James "Jim" A. Nies

James "Jim" A. Nies, 62, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Meadville Medical Center following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Akron, OH, on April 15, 1960, a son of the late Arthur and Alice (Weiland) Nies.

He was baptized in the Catholic Faith.

Until his recent illness, Jim was employed as a Quality Inspector for Acutec Precision Aerospace, Inc. of Meadville for the better part of 2 decades.  He was previously employed by the former Warren Industries.  He was a 1979 graduate of Meadville High School.  Jim had a deep appreciation for all things Americana, from early American culture to the bald eagle and old glory along with other paraphernalia that depicted our land of liberty.  He also had an interest in different types of historical instruments from various eras such as clocks, barometers, compasses, and maps.  He enjoyed nature and the beauty of the natural landscapes all around him.  He will be sadly missed.

Jim is survived by three children; Megan N. Nies, Daniel J. Nies, Joey A. Nies all of Meadville; sister Patricia Tatman (Greg) of Meadville; two brothers Arthur Nies (Karen) of Mission, TX, Ronald Nies of Prospect Park; the mother of his children Karen Nies of Meadville; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Cecconello; and a brother Charles Nies.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Jeff Conley officiating. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at a future date which will be announced.

Jim will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
