James "Jim" B. Longstreth, 81, of 8038 Mercer Pike, Meadville, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at Meadville Medical Center.
Jim was born in Meadville, on June 10, 1936, a son of the late William and Stella (Baker) Longstreth.
On June 8, 1968, Jim married Sandy Patterson; she survives.
After 32 years of service, Jim retired in 1998 from the Polishing Department of Channellock, Inc. During this time, he also worked part time at the Meadville Country Club for 26 years mowing the fairways. In his very early years, he drove a feed truck out of Titusville for GLF, later known as Agway. He attended Townville schools and served as Student Council President. In those younger years, Jim enjoyed being a Gold Glove Boxer. He was a member of the Meadville Eagles Club and a social member of Vernon Central Fire Hall. He had been an avid hunter. For many years Jim enjoyed his daily breakfast at McDonald's with his buddies. Not one to remain idle, Jim stayed busy fixing things, working around the house and out in his yard. His family meant the world to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved following their sporting events and school activities. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, of 49 years, Jim is survived by three daughters Sharon Jackson and her husband Duane of Centerville, Lisa Swan and her husband Bill of Lakeland, FL, Stacey Love of Raleigh, NC, a son Jim C. Longstreth and his wife Ruth of Conneaut Lake, eleven grandchildren Fawn Jackson, Jimmy D. Longstreth and his wife Ashley, Lauren Learn and her husband Dave, Ryan Longstreth and his wife Ashley, Cody McCray and his girlfriend Nell Lee, Kyle McCray and his fiance Katie, Tyler McCray and his girlfriend Arianna, Zachary Swan, Rylie Swan, Jordan Love, Callie Love, eight great grandchildren, two sisters Margaret Pechin of Cambridge Springs, Betty Stearns of Franklin, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by five brothers Jack, Bill, Eckert, Robert and Eddie Longstreth and a sister Mary Lou Brown.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4-7 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, at 12:00 PM with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas, Pastor, officiating.
