James "Jim" C. Higby

James "Jim" C. Higby, also known as Silver Fox, 86, of Meadville, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at Marquette Hospice House.

Jim was born in Meadville, on February 7, 1937, a son of the late Frank T. and Margaret (Crandal) Higby.

He had been married to Renee Heubel Root.

Jim retired from Seco-Warwick after 40 years of service. He later worked at the YMCA for 13 years. Jim was a member of Vernon Central, Taylor Hose, the ICC, and the Hunting & Fishing Club. He was known to be one of Meadville area's best golfers. He has inspired many young golfers. Over the years, Jim had 18 holes in one on several championship golf courses, even the Island Green signature hole at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. Jim was always well dressed and had a sharp attention to details. He enjoyed his beautiful Chevy Camaro which he kept spotless. Jim was well known by many and his legacy will live on forever.

Jim is survived by a son Christopher Higby of Erie, very close friends Carl and Rosemary Lynch, Gary Cocolin, and Jimmy Steele.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his dear friend Art Cocolin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jim will be laid to rest in Cochranton Cemetery.
