James "Jim" David Lang

James "Jim" David Lang, 67, of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Great Harbour Cay, Bahamas of natural causes.

Jim was born in Meadville, on January 7, 1957, a son of Christine "Kit" (Baldwin) Lang and the late Richard "Dick" A. Lang, Sr.

On July 22, 1989 Jim married Lori Shaffer; she survives.

A graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School, Jim was also a graduate of Bryant College in Smithfield, RI. He was Vice President of Procurement for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, where he had worked in the family business for many years. Jim served as President of the P.O.A. Association in Great Harbour Cay, Bahamas, and was Past President of French Creek Valley Conservancy and of the Meadville Country Club. Jim was on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) and had a passion for taking care of the environment. He believed strongly that we should leave the planet in better condition than when we entered it. Jim enjoyed traveling in the Bahamas and loved fly fishing, golfing, scuba diving, and boating. An avid Cleveland Browns fan, Jim remained eternally optimistic. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Lori, of 34 years, Jim is survived by two sons Tony Lang (Ashley) of Conneaut Lake, Alex Lang of Morristown, NJ; two grandchildren August and Lana Lang of Conneaut Lake; his mother Kit Lang of Meadville; three sisters Diane Lang of Kalamazoo, MI, Nancy Lang (Jay Redman) of Louisville, KY, Mary Lang (Tom Cummings) of Pittsburgh; three brothers Rick Lang (Danielle) of Meadville, Jeff Lang (Sandy Wycoff) of Harwich Port, MA, Doug Lang of Fort Scott, KS; 16 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" A. Lang, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 AM-4 PM, on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Celebration of Jim's Life will follow from 6-9 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Meadville Country Club, 15955 State Route 86, Meadville.

All are welcome to visitation as well as the celebration. Please come in whatever way you are comfortable. Jim appreciated everyone just as they were.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to French Creek Valley Conservancy, 411 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
