James 'Jim' F. Clancy

James 'Jim' F. Clancy, 83, of 421 Arch St., Meadville, passed away peacefully at Wesbury United Methodist Community on Sunday, October 7, 2012.
Jim was born on July 20, 1929 in Meadville, the son of the late James A. and Elizabeth Sullivan Clancy.
He received his education at the former St. Brigid Grade School and Meadville High School. A Veteran of the US Army, Korean Conflict, Jim served his country from February 6, 1951 until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1953. After many years of service, Jim retired from the State Liquor Authority. Jim was an avid sports fan of the Meadville High School and Allegheny College football and track teams. He was a long time follower of Notre Dame football.
Jim is survived by a sister Mary Ellen Snyder of Tucson AZ, her four daughters and son, and their families, and a brother John T. Clancy and wife Carol of Rome NY, their son, two daughters and their families.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother Joseph P. Clancy, and brother-in-law Paul E. Snyder.
Jim was a loving member of his family of many nieces, nephews grand nieces and nephews, never missing birthdays with calls, cards and gifts. He was loved in return and will be missed by all. His many friends and neighbors were vital to him, and throughout his life he always looked out for them in their homes, making multiple hospital and nursing home visits. These same neighborhood friends, old and new, as well as many Meadville friends, looked out for Jim in his declining years. Jims family is grateful for the compassionate care to Jim by them, and by the staff at Meadville Medical Center, the Transitional Care Unit and Wesbury, and will always be kept in our memories. Thank you all.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:00.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 10:00 AM at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Erie.
