James M. Wofford, Jr.

James M. Wofford, Jr., 60, of 982 Grove St., Meadville, passed away Friday, January 27th, 2012 at home.
James was born in Memphis, TN on May 12, 1951, a son of Essie (Rice) Wofford and the late James M. Wofford, Sr.
James had married Marilyn Crawford; she preceded him in death on October 20, 2005.
He was a lifelong member of Beacon Liberty St. Temple Church of God in Christ, Meadville.
Prior to being injured, James had been employed by the city of Meadville, PPG Industries and as a swim instructor for the YWCA. He was a 1969 graduate of Meadville High School. James was a member of Meadville Council of the Arts and of the Hunting and Fishing Club. A talented artist, James loved to paint with oils and water colors. He also enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing pool, darts and chess.
James is survived by nine children James Jones of Meadville, Angela Marie Jones of Columbus, OH, James Wofford III and his wife Angela of Franklin, Mary Moody and her husband Akim of Meadville, Anthony Lindsey of Meadville, Denise Howard and her husband Byron of Ft. Worth, TX, Howard Lindsey of Meadville, Natalie McCool of Franklin, Phillip Lindsey of Meadville, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, his mother Essie Wofford of Meadville, four sisters Ida Jefferson and her husband Sam of St. Louis, MO, Marilyn Hughes, Alice Wofford, Jamie Wofford all of Meadville, three brothers Cordie Wofford and his wife Sandy, Larry Wofford and his wife Tina, Elvis Wofford all of Meadville, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and father, James was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wofford.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Homecoming Service will be held at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, with Pastor Henry Thrower officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
