Jean L. Miller

Jean L. Miller, 87, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 16372 Shady Acres, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Jean was born in New Castle, on May 26, 1928, a daughter of the late Gerald H. and Lois (Browning) Smith.

On February 28, 1948 Jean married Melvin "Gene" Miller; he preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.

In the early 1970's Jean retired as Deputy Chief Assessor for Crawford County. Following her retirement she continued to work at the Court House part time in the Assessor's Office for another forty years to assist with book work. She was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School. Jean was both a former member and former president of Woodcock Ladies and West Mead II Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, loved doing needle work and making afghans. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a most loving and wonderful grandma. She will be missed.

Jean is survived by a daughter Rebecca Ann Miller of Meadville, two grandchildren Kimberly Snyder and her husband John of Erie, Gunar Kokoszka and his wife Kimberly of Meadville, five great grandchildren Stephanie, Jake and Victoria Snyder of Erie, Wes Kokoszka, Kaitlyn Kokoszka both of Meadville, two step great grandchildren Brittany and Zakk, a brother Richard E. Smith and his wife Gail of Meadville, three sisters in law Ruth Miller of Saegertown, Alice Miller, Dorothy Miller both of Meadville, numerous nieces, nephews, many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Gene of 61 years, Jean was preceded in death by a brother Gerald Smith, Jr. and his wife Etta.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 with Rev. Marshall Lillie, Hospice of Crawford County Chaplain, officiating.

Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gene, in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
