Jean Louise "Hanna" Dunlap

Jean Louise "Hanna" Dunlap, 94, of 31 N. Park Ave,. Meadville, formerly of Franklin, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Jean was born in Franklin, on April 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Victor J. and Hazel (Foster) Hanna.

On January 19, 1946 Jean married Francis W. Dunlap; he preceded her in death on June 22, 2000.

Most of Jean's 40 year nursing career was dedicated to Franklin Regional Medical Center with a short period of employment with VNA, Sugarcreek Station, as well as some private duty nursing. She retired in 1985. A 1941 graduate of Franklin High School, Jean was also a 1945 graduate of the former Spencer Hospital School of Nursing, Meadville. Her hobbies included doing cross stitch, quilting, oil painting, knitting, cooking, baking, reading, working crossword puzzles and keeping up with current events.

Jean is survived by three granddaughters Missy, Brandy, Christina, several great grandchildren, two sisters Frances Hazlett of Meadville, Pauline Hoovler and her husband Phillip of Denver, CO, many nieces and nephews including Cheryl Hanna who was like a daughter to her.

In addition to her parents and her husband Francis of 54 years, Jean was preceded in death by two sons Richard F. Dunlap, Daniel E. Dunlap, a grandson Keenan Dunlap, a brother Richard F. Hanna, Sr. a sister Leona Mae Hanna, a daughter in law Laurie and a nephew Richard F. Hanna, Jr.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.

Jean will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335 or Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St., or East Grove Methodist Church, 1167 Belmar Rd., both in Franklin, PA 16323.
