Jeannette 'Janet' Orr

Jeannette 'Janet' (Battista) Orr, 92, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 648 Dickson Place, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Janet was born in Meadville on February 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Mike and Madeline (Euliano) Battista.

On March 3, 1945, Janet married Ralph Orr; he preceded her in death on January 29, 2008.

She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

Over the years Janet had been employed by the former Italian Bakery, Meadville, as a nurses aide by the former Spencer Hospital, Meadville and as a Crossing Guard at N. Main and Baldwin Streets. While living in Texas she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a graduate of Meadville High School and a member of the ICC Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, making plastic canvas crafts and following the Dallas Cowboys. Janet will be remembered as someone who was always there for everyone.

Janet is survived by a daughter Madeline G. Bollinger and her husband Paul of Meadville, a sister Lucy McNamara and her husband Lou of Meadville, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Battista, Julia Battista both of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and step-mother Caterina Petruolo, Janet was preceded in death by three brothers Bus Battista, Anthony Battista and Andy Battista.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2-5 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335, where a scripture service will be conducted at 4:30.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Fr. Marc Solomon officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
