Mrs. Jennie F. Piccuta, 90, of 238 S. Market St., New Wilmington, formerly of 2212 N. Mercer St. and 48 Valhalla, both New Castle, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at Shenango On The Green, New Wilmington.

Jennie was born in Ellwood City, on April 11, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Concetta
(DiCerbo) Fusco.

On December 27, 1951 Jennie married Daniel W. Piccuta; he preceded her in death on January 30, 2014.

Jennie was an active member of St. Camillus Roman Catholic Church where she was active in many capacities including as a member of the Ladies Guild for over 30 years. Most of these years she held various offices, including president. Jennie had served as an Eucharistic Minister for over 20 years not only at church but distributed the Eucharist to many home bound parishioners as well as to Catholic patients in Jameson North. She was a former Confirmation class CCD teacher and in 1998 Jennie was honored with the "Mani Festation of the Kingdom" award from the Pittsburgh Diocese, for her dedication and commitment to her faith and church.

After joining the faculty of Wilmington Area High School in 1971, Jennie went on to teach French, Latin and Spanish for over 20 years, retiring in 1991. Valedictorian of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, class of 1944, Jennie also served as her class secretary. She continued her education by graduating from Seton Hill College, Latrobe, in 1948 and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Literature from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. Prior to her marriage to Daniel, Jennie taught Latin and Spanish at Lincoln High School, then devoted the next 20 years to raising her family.

Jennie was a member of the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary for 15 years, holding various offices during that time as well as co-chairing the scheduling of volunteers for the gift shop. She was a member of the PSEA and following retirement became a member of PASR. Over the years she enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, golfing, bowling and line dancing. Jennie will be remembered for being a loving wife, a devoted mother and Nana, as well as a disciple to her Catholic Faith.

Jennie is survived by two sons, Daniel W. Piccuta II and his wife Christina of Kona, HI, David J. Piccuta and his wife Marsha of Duncan, SC, four daughters Janice M. Boazzo and her husband Joseph of Cortland, OH, Joyce A. Markwell and her husband Mark of Greensboro, NC, Jocelyn M. Mizner and her husband Stephen of Meadville, Jacqueline A. Miller and her husband Donald of Rockville, MD, 10 grandchildren, Erin, James and his wife Beth, Dr. Jenna and her husband Dr. Andrew, Concetta and her husband Erik, Aleta, Airel, Joshua, Florentina, Nicholas, Mia, three great grandchildren Grace, Samuel, Gianna, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband Daniel of 62 years, Jennie was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Ralph Fusco and Joseph Fusco, an infant brother and infant sister.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 3-6 PM at Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Family and friends are also invited to call on Saturday from 8:30-9:30 AM, when the Funeral Procession will leave Don DeCarbo Funeral Home at 9:30 AM to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Camillus Church, 314 W. Englewood Ave, New Castle, with Rev. Philip Farrell, officiating.

Jennie will be entombed next to her husband, Daniel, at Castleview Memorial Park, New Castle.
