Mr. Jerry D. Tidd, 64, of 10989 Oakgrove Ave., Meadville, passed away at home on Sunday, March 4, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer which began in 2006.
Jerry was born in Meadville on January 14, 1948, the son of the late James E. and Miriam (Camp) Tidd.
On December 4, 2004, Jerry married Pamela J. Warner; she survives.
He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Meadville.
Jerry retired as owner and operator of Tidd Trucking which he purchased in 2004. Prior to that he worked for Lord Corp. where he began his trucking career and for 19 years he was employed as a driver for Tidd Trucking, which was owned by his brother, Fred. A 1967 graduate of Meadville High School, Jerry honorably served his country in the US Army with the 357th Transportation Unit during the Vietnam Conflict. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Pamela of seven years, Jerry is survived by seven children Gregory Tidd of Albion, Bonnie Galmish and her husband Randy of Cochranton, DeWayne Shreffler and his wife Kim of Roanoke, VA, Andrew Shreffler and his wife Theresa of Elkins, WV, Catherine Barber and her companion Douglas Brown of Roanoke, VA, Tammy Yokum and her husband John, Michael McGarvey both of Elkins, WV, 28 grandchildren, three great grandchildren,a sister Janet Mischenko and her husband Nick of Cochranton, a brother Donald Tidd and his wife Wanda of Penellas Park, FL, two sisters-in-law Shirley Tidd of Lake City, Mona Tidd of Penellas Park, FL, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two grandchildren Zachariah and Aiden, five brothers Arthur, Frederick, John, George and Harold Tidd and a sister-in-law Janice Tidd.Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335 where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2012, with Brother Peterson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, officiating.
Interment will take place, with full Military Honors, in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
